Islamabad:Under the leadership of Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain and the guidance of Federal Secretary, the Ministry of National Food Security and Research is organizing a National Workshop on Deregulating the Wheat Sector on Friday, 24 January 2025 at the Marriott Hotel, Islamabad. The workshop will focus on developing a comprehensive strategy for deregulating the wheat market while ensuring strategic reserves and food security.This significant initiative comes as part of the government’s commitment to structural reforms under the ongoing IMF program. It aims to transition from traditional procurement practices and introduce innovative solutions to maintain wheat reserves in a deregulated market.Representatives from all four provinces, including provincial food secretaries and experts, have been invited to present their strategies. These presentations will address key challenges and propose actionable solutions for managing wheat reserves and ensuring food security.Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain emphasized, “This workshop reflects our government’s dedication to ensuring food security in the country while reforming the agricultural sector to meet modern demands.”Federal Secretary of the Ministry added, “We aim to achieve a balanced and deregulated wheat market through collaboration with provinces and regions.
