Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said that if electricity prices are not reduced, he will start a nationwide movement.
While talking to the media in Mansoura, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that the nationwide protest movement will be started from January 17. He said that as a result of our sit-ins and protests, the government held talks with the IPPs.
The Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer said that according to the government, one and a half billion rupees have been benefited but electricity has not become cheaper. The problems of IPPs have been going on since 1994. Two thousand billion rupees are being spent on the nation’s electricity consumption. Money is being taken from the poor and given to a few people. The government has also given tax exemption on the income of the owners of IPPs.
The country should end the system of the head of state, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman asked the Prime Minister to explain why oil has not become cheaper despite the rise in the stock exchange index, why there has been no reduction in inflation, why the value of the Pakistani currency has not increased, he said that government spending has increased by twenty-three percent.
