PML-N leader and former federal minister Khawaja Saad Rafique denied the statement made by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan that he had no role in sending him to jail.
In a statement released on the social networking platform ‘X’, Khawaja Saad Rafique said that my speech given two days ago on the occasion of the death anniversary of Khawaja Muhammad Rafique Shaheed reflects my views in the light of evidence and experiences, I stand by every sentence I made and will continue to stand by it.
He said that as usual, PTI supporters took a sentence out of the context of the 23-minute speech and made it viral to prove Imran Khan’s innocence, ‘Imran Khan did not send me and my brother to jail, but General Bajwa and Justice Saqib Nisar.’
He said that at the beginning of his speech, he had said that former Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar sent him and his brother to jail, while the founder of PTI extended the jail and made it longer.
Saad Rafique said that he had and does not have any personal grudge against those who hurt his family, nor does he want to take revenge, but none of those responsible will be allowed to be pulled out like a hair from butter and distort history.
He said that whoever did what he did is now a part of history, be it generals, judges or politicians, all will stand in the dock of history.
The former federal minister said that the background to this is simply that the preparations for the overthrow of the PML-N and our crackdown had begun since 2017. General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa, General (retd) Faiz Hameed, Justice Saqib Nisar and their associates were furthering this game with their state power, while Imran Khan was part of this conspiracy and among those who benefited from it.
