Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan has restored Adil Bazai’s membership from NA-262 Quetta constituency of the National Assembly.
The Election Commission has issued a notification to restore Adil Bazai’s membership.
The notification issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan said that in light of the Supreme Court’s order, the notification of November 21 has been cancelled.
The Election Commission has declared that Adil Bazai will be an independent member of the National Assembly instead of the Muslim League (N).
After this decision, the Election Commission also stopped the by-election in NA-262.
It may be recalled that last month, the Election Commission declared Adil Bazai disqualified while pronouncing the decision on the disqualification reference against the opposition member of the National Assembly.
On the petitions of PML-N President Nawaz Sharif for the disqualification of MNA Adil Khan Bazai, the Election Commission had declared Adil Bazai disqualified for the crime of floor crossing and ordered him to be de-seated and declared the NA-262-1 seat vacant.
Adil Bazai was elected as an independent member of the National Assembly from Quetta. After winning the election, Adil Bazai first submitted an affidavit of joining the PML-N, then a few days later submitted an affidavit of joining the Sunni Ittehad Council.
During the hearing, Adil Bazai’s lawyer called the affidavit of joining the PML-N fake.
Nawaz Sharif had submitted a disqualification reference against Adil for not voting on the finance bill and the constitutional amendment. The disqualification reference was sent to the Election Commission by the Speaker of the National Assembly, which stated that Adil violated the party policy on the occasion of the constitutional amendment.
