A breakthrough on power sharing in Punjab between Pakistan Peoples Party and Muslim League (N) has emerged, President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will meet today.
The current situation in the country and power sharing between PPP and PML-N will be discussed in the meeting of the President and the Prime Minister.
According to sources, a meeting of the coordination committees of PML-N and PPP will be held tomorrow at the Governor House, in which Punjab Governor Saleem Haider, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood, Nadeem Afzal Chan, Hassan Murtaza and Ali Haider Gilani will represent the PPP.
According to sources, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Azam Nazir Tarar, Rana Sanaullah, Malik Ahmed Khan and Maryam Aurangzeb will attend the meeting from PML-N.
The meeting will discuss the issues facing the PPP at the local level in Punjab, while the PPP’s reservations with the PML-N in Punjab will also be discussed.
It should be noted that earlier this month, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar had agreed to hold meetings of the PPP and government committees to resolve the issues.
According to a report by Dawn newspaper, after a month of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s complaints to the PML-N about non-fulfillment of promises, the two coalition parties agreed to start at least a week-long talks to resolve the contentious issues.
Earlier, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had expressed reservations at various forums about the treatment of the PPP by the PML-N government, complaining that the ruling party does not take the PPP into confidence in decision-making.
In light of these complaints, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had directed Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar to meet the PPP Chairman and address his reservations.
