Lahore: After the February 8, 2024 general elections, the PPP and PML-N alliance is in power but the paths are separate, the PPP has not got anything except constitutional positions.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Punjab Governor Saleem Haider’s reservations in power sharing, legal matters also did not work.
There is no coordination between the two parties with the Punjab government, there is no optimism regarding the PML-N in the matter of power sharing even in the new year 2025.
After the February 8 general elections, the PPP and the PML-N formed an alliance in the federation, under which the PPP obtained the President, Chairman Senate and other constitutional positions, while the PML-N took over the responsibility of the Prime Minister.
This power sharing was successful for the PPP at the level of positions, but in practice its impact on government policies was limited. Party leaders say that power sharing with the PML-N is not trusted for legislation.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also expressed this to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that the PML-N did not meet his expectations. After assuming office, President Asif Ali Zardari visited Lahore twice while Bilawal Bhutto visited Lahore five times.
Several meetings between the PML-N and the PPP regarding power sharing were fruitless. Punjab Governor Saleem Haider, while fighting the PPP in the province, also said that he would separate from the PML-N regarding power sharing and also informed Bilawal Bhutto Zardari about the situation.
At the request of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formed a committee, but the results have not yet been released.
