Islamabad: Pakistan has strongly reacted to US sanctions on the ballistic missile program, calling the decision biased.
The US has imposed sanctions on Pakistan’s National Development Complex and three other commercial entities for providing assistance to the ballistic missile program.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the US sanctions on the National Development Complex and three commercial entities are an unfortunate and biased decision.
Pakistan’s strategic capabilities are aimed at defending its sovereignty and maintaining peace and stability in South Asia, the latest installment of sanctions deviates from the objective of peace and security, which is aimed at increasing military imbalance.
Such policies have dangerous implications for the strategic stability of our region and beyond.
Pakistan says that this strategic program is a sacred trust that 240 million people have bestowed on its leadership and this sacred trust cannot be compromised.
We also regret the imposition of sanctions on private commercial entities; similar listings of commercial entities in the past were based on mere suspicions without any evidence.
While claiming to strictly adhere to non-proliferation principles, other countries have in the past waived licensing requirements for advanced military technology.
The Foreign Office spokesperson added that such double standards and discriminatory practices not only damage the credibility of non-proliferation regimes but also endanger regional and international peace and security.
