Islamabad: A case has been registered against former Prime Minister Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi and former President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi and others for violent protests on November 24 by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

According to sources, the first case of the protest was registered under anti-terrorism provisions in Taxila police station.

Opposition Leader Omar Ayub, Chief Minister KP Ali Amin Gandapur, Aleema Khan, Azam Swati, Taimur Masood, Shehryar Riaz and more than 300 local leaders and workers have been named in the case.

According to the text of the case, the protesters damaged a government motorcycle and vehicle, while the accused kidnapped a police driver and tortured him before releasing him. The founder of PTI gave the party leaders a plan to attack Islamabad from Adiala Jail.

Case No. 2594 includes other provisions including interference in the government, violation of Section 144, while the protesters are also accused of damaging government and private property and blocking highways by gathering a crowd.

Cases in Lahore

In Lahore, the police registered six cases for violation of Section 144, including provisions for police encounters.

The cases registered by the Lahore police include 42 named and 92 unknown accused. The cases were registered in Johar Town, Green Town, Manawan, Defense C and Ghaziabad.

According to police officials, the uniforms of 12 police personnel were torn during the protest yesterday.

It should be noted that on Imran Khan’s call, PTI convoys left Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the leadership of Chief Minister Amin Ali Amin Gandapur on November 24 for the protest in Islamabad.

There was also a clash between protesters and police while entering Punjab from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. PTI workers pelted stones at the police, which was responded to by the police.
