Rawalpindi: PTI leaders and workers including Imran Khan are likely to be indicted today in the May 9 GHQ attack case, the court has summoned 125 people today.
On the court order, the investigation team will present the inspection note of the criminal conspiracy in the GHQ attack case in the court today. The indictment proceedings were postponed due to the failure to present the inspection note of the criminal conspiracy charge on the previous date. The hearing of the case will be held in the District Court Anti-Terrorism Court.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has also been issued a summons to the court for the indictment, Shibli Faraz, Omar Ayub Khan, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Zartaj Gul have also been summoned for the indictment, while summons have also been issued to 21 workers and accused who were absent on the previous date. A total of 125 accused in the case have been named and all of them have been summoned today.
The Anti-Terrorism Court is also expected to deliver a verdict on Sheikh Rashid Ahmed’s acquittal application due to lack of evidence. Accused Shireen Mazari and Amjad Niazi have also filed acquittal applications.
On the other hand, the PTI legal team has prepared three separate applications to postpone the indictment proceedings. Judge Amjad Ali Shah of the Special Anti-Terrorism Court will hold the hearing at 9 am. Copies of the case have not yet been distributed to the 20 accused in the case, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Ali Amin Gandapur, etc. The court has also asked the investigation team to provide copies of the challans for the remaining accused.
