Simona Gatti, a professor of psychology and senior researcher at the University of California-Davis Center for Mind and Brain, said that this study highlights the importance of screening for asthma as a possible cause of cognitive difficulties in children.
Gatti added in a news release that we are increasingly aware that chronic diseases, not only asthma but also diabetes, heart disease and others, can put children at risk for cognitive difficulties.
She said that we need to understand the factors that can increase or protect against the above risks.
