Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that he is firing Defense Minister Yves Gallant, a longtime rival within the Likud party.
In a brief letter released by his office, Netanyahu told Gallant that “your term will expire 48 hours after receipt of this letter. I thank you for your service as defense minister.” I would like to thank you.”
Gallant will be replaced by Foreign Minister Israel Katz, Minister Gideon Sa’ar will replace Katz as Foreign Minister.
“Unfortunately, although there was trust in the first months of the war and very productive work was done, during the last months that trust broke down between me and the defense minister,” Netanyahu said in a video statement.
Netanyahu also accused Gallant of indirectly helping Israel’s enemies, saying, “I tried hard to fill these gaps, but they kept getting wider.” They also came unacceptably to public knowledge and worse, to the knowledge of the enemy, our enemies enjoyed and profited greatly from it.
Netanyahu further said that most members of the government agree with him.
Yves Gallant’s reaction after the sacking
Following his dismissal by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in favor of Foreign Minister Israel Katz, Defense Minister Yves Gallant issued a bitter statement saying, “The security of the State of Israel has always been, and remains, my life’s mission.” Will do.
