Islamabad: Important meetings of National Assembly and Senate will be held today. Important legislation is expected in the sessions for which the government has directed all members of parliament to ensure attendance.
According to the sources, the anti-terrorism amendment bill and the bill to increase the number of judges are likely to be passed in the National Assembly session.
The 7-point agenda of the National Assembly session was released, according to which a notice to draw attention to the degradation of Pakistan’s judiciary and rule of law index in the global ranking will be presented in the House in today’s National Assembly session.
People’s Party’s Sahar Kamran will draw the attention of the House on Pakistan’s ranking of 129 out of 142 in Rule of Law Index 2024, while the Law Minister will take the House into confidence about the global ranking report.
Law Minister Azam Nazir will also present the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Ordinance in the National Assembly, the attention notice regarding the grounding of national airline planes will also be included in the agenda.
On the other hand, a 39-point agenda for the Senate session was also released, according to which 3 new bills will be presented in the House in today’s session, while the standing committee reports and approval of 11 bills are also included in the agenda.
Meanwhile, the meeting time of the National Assembly today has been changed, the spokesperson of the National Assembly has said that the meeting will be held at 4 pm instead of 5 pm.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also called an important meeting of the federal cabinet today, the leader of the PML-N, Barrister Aqeel Malik, says that a wrong impression is being given that the government wants to execute its own judges.
