DUBAI: The month of Ramadan is almost 4 months away, but the wait has already begun for when the holy month will officially begin.
According to Gulf News, the Emirati Astronomical Society has announced that lunar predictions begin in Jumadi al-Awwal, the fifth month of the Hijri year, which helps in determining the dates of Ramadan.
The society said that the Jumadi al-Awwal moon will be sighted on November 3, 2024 and is likely to appear immediately after sunset, thereby providing the basis for predictions about the start of Ramadan.
According to Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Society, the start of Ramadan will likely be on March 1, 2025, which is more likely.
The final date for the start of Ramadan depends on the sighting of the moon, which is traditionally announced by the moon sighting committee.
