Islamabad: Another petition was filed in the Supreme Court against the 26th constitutional amendment.
A new petition against the 26th constitutional amendment has been filed in the Supreme Court by Advocate Mian Asif under Section 184(3), in which the federal government, the Ministry of Law and the Attorney General have been made parties.
The petition has requested that the Supreme Court declare the 26th constitutional amendment null and void. Parliament cannot make amendments against the independence of judiciary. Independence of the judiciary is part of the basic structure of the Constitution. Parliamentary interference in judicial affairs affects the independence of the judiciary and the delivery of justice.
It should be noted that a petition against the 26th constitutional amendment was filed in the Supreme Court two days ago. In the petition filed by Afrasiab Khattak, all the political parties including PML-N, People’s Party have been made parties.
