Rawalpindi: After the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Friday prayers across the country on the issue of district level protest call, various highways were blocked in Rawalpindi.
Barricades have been erected on both sides of the road near Charing Cross on Peshawar Road and near MH on Nal Road, with one lane of traffic currently open on the highways.
Zig-zag pickets were also established at the entrances of Rawalpindi and police personnel were deployed.
The roads leading to Murid Chowk and Liaquat Bagh are closed while single line traffic is being allowed to come and go on Swan Bridge. All other routes to Rawalpindi are open as usual.
Meru bus service operation in the twin cities of Rawalpindi, Islamabad remained closed for the fifth day.
The operation of the Meru bus service was suspended from October 14 to 16 due to security concerns on the occasion of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Conference, later the operation was suspended on October 17, but today the bus service is also suspended on Friday.
