MUMBAI: Arif Zakaria, who played the lead role in the 1997 film Darmiyan, has reacted to reports circulating on social media that Shah Rukh Khan was initially cast for the role but Later he was replaced by Arif Zakaria.
In a recent interview, Arif said, “I don’t think this story is entirely true. At that time director Kalpana Lajmi met many actors and this is a fact. Some actors said yes and some didn’t, but there is no question that I have changed anyone.”
He said that luck has played a big role in his career and he doesn’t know where he got the role.
He further said that at that time many Bollywood and South actors including Shahrukh Khan were being discussed.
The film Darmiyan tells the story of an actress who discovers that her son is a transgender. The film stars Karan Kher and Tabu in lead roles and is directed by Kalpana Lajmi.
