LONDON: The government has announced that from October 1, 2025, a ban on junk food advertisements on TV before 9 pm will come into effect.
The ruling Labor party released a statement saying it would introduce a complete ban on junk food advertising as well as online advertising aimed at tackling childhood obesity.
The Conservative Party had previously decided on a ban in 2021 when Boris Johnson was prime minister but delayed it to give the industry more time to prepare.
Health Minister Andrew Gwynn said guidance had been provided to businesses confirming the scope of the restrictions and their implementation date.
