KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has suspended the decision of the Fairmen’s Committee recommendations and the syndicate on the application related to the degree of Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangir, a judge of the Islamabad High Court, and stopped Karachi University from taking further steps in this regard.
A hearing was held on the application related to the degree of Islamabad High Court judge Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangir in front of a bench consisting of Justice Salahuddin Pahood and Justice Amjad Ali Sohto.
The petitioner’s counsel submitted that the fair table committee and the syndicate had declared the degree of Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri ineffective.
Justice Salahuddin Paiwar remarked that whose degree is the case, how many decisions of this type has the university made so far? The petitioner’s counsel took the stand that the decision was taken by the syndicate in a non-transparent manner.
Justice Salahuddin Paiwar inquired that when is the degree? The lawyer stated that the degree is 30 years old. Justice Salahuddin Paiwar inquired on whose request all this has happened, whose complaint has been processed? They are saying that Islamia Law College has written a letter.
Justice Amjad Ali Sohto said in his remarks that what is the relation of the petitioners to this case.
The petitioner’s lawyer stated that the petition filed by the lawyers, Karachi University has no jurisdiction. Only a judicial commission can take action, one member of the syndicate was picked up by the police for 8 hours.
Justice Amjad Ali Sohto remarked that do not talk about politics here, the person whose degree you are canceling should be called, this person should be given notice. Any application can be made in the Judicial Commission, they would check it.
The Supreme Court suspended these Fairmen’s Committee recommendations and the decision of the Syndicate and the court also restrained Karachi University from taking further steps in this regard.
The court issued a notice to the Deputy Attorney General, Advocate General Sindh and others and sought a detailed response from the parties within 3 weeks.
