California: An air taxi powered by hydrogen and electricity completed a record flight of 523 miles in the US.
The last flight was made in California. At the end of the flight, only 10 percent hydrogen fuel was left in the aircraft and only water was emitted as waste because it is an environmentally friendly fuel.
Jobi Aviation’s air taxi is the first hydrogen-electric aircraft of its kind to take off or land vertically.
“Air travel is central to human evolution, but it needs to find clear routes,” said Joby founder and chief Joe Ben Beavert.
While the company’s battery-electric air taxi revolutionized the way cities get around, the company is now building a technology that could reshape regional travel using hydrogen-electric aircraft, he said.
The company said its air taxi would cut the one-hour drive from Manhattan to JFK Airport to seven minutes.
