ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has restrained the Islamabad High Court from taking further action in the audio leak case.
In the Supreme Court, a hearing was held on the Federal Government’s appeal against the decision of the High Court in the Bushra Bibi and Najamul Thaqib audio leak case.
Additional Attorney General Aamir Rehman appeared in the court and argued that the Islamabad High Court order of May 29 stopped the authorities from phone tapping. Terrorists are also not caught anymore, ISI, IB were also stopped by phone tapping and CDR.

Justice Aminuddin Khan asked whether the High Court had determined who was recording the audio. The Additional Attorney General replied that it has not been determined yet, the investigation is on.

Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan remarked that unfortunately no one wants to reach the truth in this country, an inquiry commission was formed to find out the truth and it was stayed by the Supreme Court. The court accepted the federal government’s appeal for hearing, issued notices to the parties and suspended the June 25 order of the Islamabad High Court. The court also restrained the Islamabad High Court from taking further action until further notice.
The Supreme Court while issuing the order said that the Additional Attorney General said that the High Court exceeded the jurisdiction of Article 199, as the principle is laid down in two judgments of the Supreme Court, the High Court cannot automatically take notice, the court was told. The five questions decided in the High Court hearing on May 31 were not the case of the petitioners and the High Court cannot inquire.
The Supreme Court declared that the order of the Islamabad High Court dated 29 May 2024 was reviewed, the order of the Islamabad High Court dated 29 May was not extended to the next court proceedings, so there is no need to suspend the order.
