ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has set for hearing the petition to declare the February 8 elections null and void.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Supreme Court Qazi Faiz Isa will hear the petition on February 19. Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Musarat Hilali are part of the bench.
The Supreme Court issued a notice to the petitioner. A citizen named Ali Khan has requested for re-election on the basis of alleged rigging in the elections.
In the general elections held on February 8 in the country, independent candidates supported by PTI have won 92 seats, PML-N 75 and Pakistan People’s Party 54. Several political parties and candidates who lost the election have leveled allegations of election rigging.
