Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari will take oath of the federal cabinet at 3 pm today and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has decided to limit the size of the cabinet to 12 to 14 members.
In the first phase, the portfolios of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Planning and Ministry of Interior will be assigned, while ministers of Ministry of Information, Ministry of Privatization and other important ministries will also be appointed.
The federal ministers will also be given additional ministries in the initial phase, Ishaq Dar, Attaullah Tarr, Khawaja Asif and Ahsan Iqbal will be included in the federal cabinet, Amir Muqam, Ohs Leghari and Jam Kamal will also be part of the cabinet while former Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, Mohammad Aurangzeb and Shamshad Akhtar are also likely to be included in the federal cabinet, Umar Saif may be a special assistant and the status of minister of state.
The government ally Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan is likely to get two ministries and the Muslim League (Q) one.
In the federal cabinet, Ishaq Dar will be given the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahsan Iqbal the Ministry of Planning, Khawaja Asif the Ministry of Defence, Attaullah Tarar the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Azam Nazir Tarar the Ministry of Law and Sarader Yusuf the Minister of Religious Affairs. , Amir Maqam, Owais Leghari, Jam Kamal and Ahad Cheema will also be part of the cabinet, former caretaker chief minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi is likely to be given the portfolio of the interior ministry.
The new federal cabinet will take oath from the newly elected President Asif Ali Zardari at 3 pm.
