California: Technology company Meta has apologized for removing Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s post about the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh.
Last Monday, the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Office summoned META representatives for an explanation after the post was removed. After which the company apologized on Tuesday.
In a statement to AFP, Meta said the company apologized for removing the Prime Minister’s post from its Facebook and Instagram patches due to an operational issue.
The statement added that the Prime Minister’s post has been restored with the correct label.
It should be noted that Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Palestinian resistance group Hamas, was martyred in Tehran, the capital of Iran, last Wednesday, which was blamed on Israel.
The Malaysian prime minister’s post included a video of him offering his condolences to a Hamas official over the phone.
On Instagram, Metta shared a note saying that the post was being removed for not being related to dangerous individuals and organizations.
