ISLAMABAD: PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have approached the District and Sessions Court Islamabad against the sentence in the Idt Nikah case.
Imran Khan filed the petition through Barrister Salman Safdar, Salman Akram Raja and Usman Riaz Gul while Bushra Bibi filed the petition through Khalid Yusuf Chaudhary Advocate.
Barristers Salman Safdar, Salman Akram Raja, Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry and Usman Riaz Gul will follow the case. Federation and Khawar Farid Manika have been made parties in the appeal.
In the petition, Imran Khan requested that the decision of the marriage case in Iddah is illegal, un-Islamic, un-Sharia and contrary to justice, therefore the trial court’s decision of February 3 should be annulled.
Bushra Bibi said in the application that the divorce took place in April 2017 and she moved to her mother’s house in August 2017. The application was filed after 6 years of divorce and the right to appeal does not apply after giving divorce three times.
In the petition, it was requested that the court heard and sentenced despite the lack of jurisdiction, while the decision is illegal, un-Islamic, un-Sharia and contrary to justice, therefore, the decision of the trial court on February 3 should be annulled.
It should be noted that the court ordered PTI founder seven years imprisonment and five lakh rupees fine while Bushra Bibi was sentenced to seven years imprisonment.
