Peshawar: After 9 positive cases were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a new variant of Corona has been confirmed.
According to the Health Department, 9 positive cases including the new ‘JN1’ variant of Corona have been reported in the province, all of which were reported from different hospitals in Peshawar. 5 women are also among the affected persons.
JN1 and JN1-18 of Corona have been confirmed in 2 affected persons. Quarantine and other precautions have been declared mandatory for the affected persons.

The Health Department has issued instructions to all district health officers and medical superintendents of the province to increase screening for new cases, while the diagnostic practice regarding Corona has been restored once again when positive cases are reported.
The DHOs have been asked to conduct contact tracing of relatives and other people in the districts where the cases have been reported. Those who have symptoms similar to the new variant of Corona must be tested.
Instructions have also been issued to send the samples to the Public Health Reference Lab in case of positive cases.
Medical experts and health department officials say that the new corona variant JN1 is not fatal but can spread rapidly, while other 2 variants have also been reported. All the instructions have been issued to the hospitals in this regard.
