ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has given conditional permission to military courts to pronounce reserved verdicts.
In the Supreme Court, a hearing was held on the intra-court appeals against the decision against the military courts.
Attorney General Mansoor Usman said that there are 20 people who can be released before Eid, those who are acquitted and those with lesser sentences will be released with a discount, those whose sentence is one year will be given a discount, a total of 105 accused. Those who are in the custody of the army, for their release, will have to go through three stages, the first stage will be the preserved verdict, the second stage will be its confirmation, and the third stage will be the concession by the army chief.
The Attorney General requested that military courts be allowed to pronounce preserved verdicts. On this, Justice Aminuddin Khan said that even if permission is granted, it will be subject to the final decision of the appeals.
Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi asked that the names of those to be released be given. The Attorney General replied that he could not name the names until the verdicts came from the military courts.
While the Supreme Court has given conditional permission to military courts to pronounce reserved judgments only in cases in which the nominees may have been released before Eid, the Attorney General has assured that legal exemptions will be granted to those with lesser sentences. will be granted, leave to pronounce judgments shall be subject to final decision on appeals.
The Supreme Court also accepted the plea of the KP government to withdraw the appeals. The KP government had requested to withdraw the appeals filed against the annulment of the trial of the civilians.
The court also sought the details of those sentenced to less than three years.

The court adjourned the hearing till the fourth week of April while directing the Attorney General to submit the implementation report.
